Which sources do you use?

When do you plant in Central Florida?

Ask IFAS HS732 lists Central Florida planting dates as August to September and January to March. UF/IFAS Peppers says start seed indoors in late winter for planting after the last spring frost, and again in midsummer for August to September. Those are bulletin windows, not a frost almanac from this site.

Can I make peppers hotter?

Penn State Extension discusses stress and pungency: a jalapeño cannot be made as hot as a habanero. High temperatures and drought are named as the main stressors. Read Growing Hot Peppers: Can You Make Them Hotter?

Which peppers grow in Florida heat?

UF/IFAS lists cayenne, jalapeño, habanero, and datil among Florida garden peppers. Datil prefers 60 to 70% shade on the IFAS datil page; other hot peppers are listed as full sun. Read Hot Peppers and Datil Peppers.

Do I need a grow light for a pepper tray?

UF/IFAS Starting Transplants Indoors says you can start on a windowsill, but only south- or west-facing windows are bright enough, and an overhead light is suggested if you start more than a dozen seedlings. Comparison: grow light vs windowsill. First tray: seed-starting kit.
